Let your creativity out at Pandora Jewelry
Wednesday, Nov 7, 2007 CELESTE SMITH The slow drive-bys started weeks before the opening of the Pandora Jewelry store in Blakeney.
One woman actually tried to walk in for a peek during renovations. And then there was the lady who drove by while shaking her Pandora-clad, braceleted wrist in the air.
"She's waving her arm out the window. `Is this what you're selling?' " owner Gina Stout recalled. The woman returned after the store opened last week to buy another bracelet -- the 11th in her collection.
They're examples of the addiction caused by this Denmark-based jewelry line, debuting its first U.S. free-standing store in the Blakeney retail center. Previously, Pandora had only been available as a featured item sold by other jewelry and retail stores.
The Blakeney store sells every item in the Pandora catalog, and also gets first shipments.
Owner Stout and staffers Ann McGaha, Connie Bonk and Ceil Littlefield all sold Pandora with Stout at a previous retail store. What draws fans, Stout said, is the versatile nature of the jewelry. Take the charm bracelets: Start off with the slim bracelets, which come with "interior threads" -- dividers that separate it into three sections. Beads can go within any bracelet segment to change the pattern and look of the piece.
Bead styles include ones that mix 14K gold with sterling silver, or as charms like an angel or snowman for the December holidays. Necklaces, earrings and rings are also featured.
Prices start at $27 for a silver bracelet and $20 for a bead -- if you can keep it at that.
"It is addictive," admits Stout. "You can't just buy one bead." Details: www.pandora-jewelry.com.
